Monday, 10th December. We meet today the second collaborative workshop of Aalborg, called makerspace9220. This makerspace is a part of a cultural house, a common shared place for different kind of services like coffee shop, library and more. The space is located outside of the center of Aalborg, at 7km South-West, ~15 minutes by car and 30 minutes by bus. It is also close to the University of Aalborg.
The makerspace is located to the basement of the building. Karina, the first person I meet, let me took some picture of the space. She is working with Jacob and Victor in this space. She gives advises to the people coming for there project and actually had some training to understand how to use all machines. Jacob, the initial founder of the project, made this place in 2016. He wanted a big Fablab. This project started with a founding of 1M of dkk by a foundation. This value permits to the space to buy new equipment and prepare the future.
The structure is a part of the Kommune of Aalborg, and must respect some rules. One of them is to teach new technology to the members and different participant coming in the space. The users come with their materials and use the machine given by the space. The participants must be over fourteen years old, a big part of the participant are around twenty years old but, a little part of them are much older. The majority of the participants come with their own projects, sometime crazy projects. If the project is really interesting, the participants can post the description of the project on the official facebook page to share with other member the state of this one.
Some internal events are planned like Coding Party but actually, the space is pretty young and don’t have enough time to organize other events. They would like to participate to the Minimakerfaire of Aarhus.
Makerspace9220 doesn’t provide actually documentation or good practices. The majority of the projects leader should ask their questions to someone responsible of the environment to have some answers.
